Zuerst ein Ohrwurm, dann lange Tracks hart progressiv mit massenhaft guter Gitarre und quirliger Hammond (A-100). Hin und wieder kommt Jazz-Einfluss was auflockert und die Musik fliessender und weicher erscheinen lässt als sie eigentlich ist. Zwei Tracks sind Frank-Zappa Coverversionen. Das Album Gramercy von 2002 besticht mit sehr originellem Progressive Rock und einem Line-up bestehend aus Gitarre (elektrische, klassische, barocke), Bass, Keyboard, Drum, gelegentliches Sax und super Sängerin mit Sopran. *Olive Mess is a band from Latvia playing with 6 musicians on their album from 2002 a very original progressive music. Eigentlich von 1968 erschien dieses Album erst 1978. Hinter der mysteriösen Britischen Psychedelic Aufnahme stehen die Produzenten Brian Carroll and Damon Lyon- Shaw, die Bands wie Factory und Five Days Rain produzierten. Es handelt sich um eine Sammlung von 1968er Band mit denen die beiden zu tun hatten. Musikalisch ähnlich wie Oliver/Standing Stone, die ganze geniale Bandbreite später Sechziger Underground, psychedelische Schokoladen-Suppe bis hin zu freakigem Blues. Guerssen GuessCD022.

USA, 1971. Guter heavy Progressive mit viel Gitarren, stilmässig wie Sperrmüll und auch musikalisch ebenbürtig. Digipack, BOD 127.

Digipack. Bei Bellaphon im Jahre 1970 erschienen. Vier lange, undergroundlastige Tracks mit massenhaft Orgelsolos und guten Gitarren, englisch gesungen. Recht hart. Tontechnisch jedoch eine typische Aufnahme von Toningenieur Dieter Dierks der auch härteste Passagen nie zu einem Brei geraten liess, sondern immer die Illusion einer gewissen Leichtigkeit in Orgel- und Gitarrensolos hineinzauberte. 2nd album from 1974 is more of the same but slightly more aggressive vocally, particularly on title track ,No One Left But Me" and with more guitar exhibitionism on ,Hungary Man". ,Dream" is a pleasant instrumental. ,The Gates" provides a 10 minute stunning finale much in the Westcoast-style. Excellent guitar-driven sound all over the album with a melodic psych/prog/rock feel. Occasional use of piano and acoustic guitars make for a varied sound. Lots of loud guitars with great solos. Originally released as a private pressing and on label, Contraband Orange Wedges 1st album Wedge features 7 songs full of driving guitars and strong vocals. Orange Wedge hailed from Baltimore, Maryland, U.S., where they formed in 1968. They released 2 albums (CD release 2nd album No One Left But Me, Long Hair LHC 68). Both albums show a mix of long and short songs and lots of loud guitars. Excellent songwriting and remarkable hooks, too. Highlights of the album are 11-minute track ,Death comes slowly and final song Revenge, which features some suberb Neil Young-influenced guitar playing. Hier sind sie nun, nachdem die Bänder 30 Jahre Lagerung unbeschadet überstanden hatten. Recht jazzig und frei gespielt, mit Blechbläsern als Gästen; nicht leicht zu verdauen, sondern anstrengend und anspruchsvoll. Wer sich damit anfreunden kann, sollte hier zugreifen. Die Rechte konnten von den Künstlern erworben werden: Zwar hatte Kuckuck-Eigner Eckart Rahn damals die Studio-Rechnung vorgestreckt, sie jedoch nachher von Out of Focus zurückerstattet bekommen, so daß die nun die freie Verfügungsgewalt über die Bänder haben. Etwa gleichzeitig mit der CD erschien "Rat roads" ungekürzt auch als LP (Tripkick 006), und zwar in gleicher äußerer Aufmachung.

Here they are, thanks to the master tapes which have survived 30 years without harm. Quite jazzy, full of improvisations and with a guest brass section. The sometimes strenuous and demanding music is rather difficult to digest, but interested parties will find this highly appealing. The rights to this publication have been obtained from the artists. Kuckuck owner Eckart Rahn had advanced the money for the recording at the time, but Out of Focus had paid him back so that the rights returned to them. Around the time of the CD release, a full-length version of "Rat roads" with the same cover artwork appeared on vinyl as an LP (Tripkick 006).
